How much is a life worth? The costs and benefits of lost lives on three levels.

When our hearts bleed and life feels empty.

A lost life. Level 1.

What is a life worth?

Everything, not much, – or nothing? Of course, that depends on which perspective we take. In the Christian tradition, life is infinitely valuable, and can not be converted into money.

At a national and state level, however, both a living and a lost life can be converted to an average monetary value, depending on the age and status of those concerned. For a child who loses mother and father, life collapses and never becomes as it could have been – that is, to a certain extent safe and predictable. For a grandson and daughter to lose their grandparents is quite sad. Though losing your spouse or girlfriend is horrible. Losing a child is extremely upsetting and sad. Grief that you in a way never get rid of. It settles like a dark and heavy cloud over your life.

How many have died in the pandemic so far? (11.25-2021)

5 million 193 thousand and 850 people have died from their loved ones and friends to this day from Covid19 related diseases. Since a person has an average of 8-9 close people around them, the deaths of the pandemic have affected around 45 million people, with varying degrees of loss and grief. It is a heavy burden, which everyone around the bereaved should help to both alleviate and comfort.

A lost life, level 2.

To a certain degree beneficial.

For some people in very complicated family relationships, it is a relief that parents and grandparents die. There is still grief there, due to a lack, most often of love and care that was never present, for various reasons. But the consolation after all can be the opportunity to inherit money, objects, jewelry, or other property.

In parts of the rich West and Asia, the amount of inheritance is not insignificant. In my country’s capital, it could be several million dollars. This can create violent conflicts between the heirs, and division in families, which in turn must be considered as degrees of loss and grief.

A lost life, level 3.

National and state affairs.

There is a lot of money to be saved nationally if the sick and old die. Especially because they are not or can not be considered directly financially productive, nor do they have maintenance responsibilities.

In some countries, there is a lot of money to be saved on a person who has reached retirement age dying early, unless the spouse takes over the pension. If both retirees die, millions of dollars could be saved, both in retirement and hospital care expenses. This applies both where the public sector is responsible for the payment of the pension that the deceased has saved up from their lifelong wage income, and where the insurance company must cover the costs of health treatment.

Fortunately, most democracies and also some dictatorships have legislated a human rights guarantee to be cared for as sick and old. We are talking about people most of whom have served their country in various ways through both their work and their taxes and fees paid to the state.

Conclusion and admonition:

No matter how we look at the effects of this pandemic, the result for us at the individual level, is great pain, grief, and insecurity. The pandemic is not over, nor do we know when we will get rid of it completely.

So let’s grieve with those of you who have lost some of your loved ones. And let’s protect ourselves as best we can, with vaccines, disinfectants, and protection masks.

We should not feel invulnerable and immortal, even if we are young, and even if our country does not take the pandemic seriously because it threatens business, jobs, and the national economy. The best way to make sure that we, our family, friends, and our community can continue almost normally, is to use face masks, disinfectants, wash our hands and test ourselves when we get sick. Also, keep your distance from those you do not know, at least for now.

IMPORTANT: Do not forget to call, text, or FaceTime, be on messenger with friends, acquaintances, grandparents, and others who may feel isolated.

Bless you, all!

FUCK FOR FOREST, or give the fuck in both the forest and the environment?

How to get attention around environmental issues?

Two young activists, Leona Johansson and Tommy Hol Ellingsen, having sex on The Quart Rock Festival in Arendal, Norway. In the back standing Christopher Schau, TV entertainer.

The stunt was a great shock to the public and the society, but it got worldwide attention.

The founders of Fuck For Forest, Leona Johansson and Tommy Hol Ellingsen wanted to draw attention to the deforestation around the world, especially in the Amazon in Brazil. And they surely did! I’ll come to that soon.

For sure we all stem from the rainforest or nature itself. And we stand on the legs of our forefathers and mothers. Not least the last, all mankind’s mother Lucy from The Awash Valley between Kenya and Ethiopia. (see How it all began) The above photo from FFF.

Quite normal and everyday.

Nothing abnormal with this! She obviously wants him to drill deep into her body. What should have been completely abnormal and illegal was to continue drilling deep into mother earth for more oil.

What happened to the naked couple fucking in public?

The couple got a huge amount of attention, as already mentioned above. But they also got the attention of the police, and a lot of police reports, which eventually ended up in the courtroom. If this was not enough, the accused undressed during the trial and showed his penis to the press and those present in the courtroom.

“Ops then he drops his pants” in the court. by VGTV

The couple ended up with a huge fine, and had to move their organization and activities to Germany and Berlin. Here they started making homemade porn movies for sale through a payment portal. The profit from this, to say the least untraditional way of earning money, they have used to buy up large areas of rainforest in the Amazon.

What more can be said about FFF:

Fuck for Forest (FFF) is a non-profit environmental organisation founded in 2004 in Norway by Leona Johansson and Tommy Hol Ellingsen. It funds itself through a website of sexually explicit videos and photographs, charging a membership fee for access. A portion of funds is donated to the cause of rescuing the world’s rainforests. It is the world’s first eco-porn organization and maybe the only porn website specifically created to raise money for a cause. The group moved from Oslo, Norway to Berlin, Germany, following the trial of its founders for having sex in public.( info from Wikipedia)

Even though you may react negatively to the methods of this foundation, I think we must take into consideration that different types of people, young or old, have different approaches to the same goal: saving mother earth from devastation!

The Guardians of the Rainforest. (“Guardiões da floresta”)

Deep inside the jungle in the eastern part of the Amazon lives the Gujajara tribe. they call themselves the guardians of the rainforest “Guardioros da Floresta”.

The Guardians of the Amazon are a group of incredibly brave, inspiring Indians in Brazil who are putting their lives on the line to save the Amazon from destruction. They’ve sent you this appeal from their forest home in Araiboia:

Bom Dia friend!

We’re sending you these words today because we need you. Our forest is being invaded by illegal loggers, right now. It’s an emergency.

We patrol, we find the loggers, we destroy their equipment and we send them away. We’ve stopped many loggers. It’s working.

We constantly receive death threats from the logging gangs. Five of us were killed. But we continue, as our forest is our life. Without it, we would all be dead.

Our uncontacted Awá relatives also live in the forest. They cannot survive if it’s destroyed. As long as we live, we will fight for the uncontacted Indians, for all of us, and for nature.

Is there a way to survive, with today’s heads of state and your and my contribution?

Psychological Universe and climate change.

Have you noticed a change in weather and temperature lately? A climate change at an unprecedented rate? Or do you know someone that has experienced a dramatic flood, like on the photo from a town in Germany this summer?

1.5 Celsius or 2.7 Celsius? A matter of life or death!

In our time of crisis, I am too, like most young people particularly concerned with the rapid change in climate and the prospect of 2.7 degrees Celsius increase in temperature. That is if we in the west and parts og Asia continue our way of life our pattern of consumption of today.

I read about an economist who was terrified that the world’s economic growth would slow down and end up at the level of 2011. OMG, I thought, strange that we managed to survive at all, then.

In this world of today, I’m like a spoiled child.

I have a house, a car, warm clothes and summer outfits. I have many pair of shoes, a fridge with plenty of food. I even have a cabin in the mountain! And if I’d wanted it, I could fly to whatever country in the world on vacation. I have, have, have, but that’s not much worth if I can’t exist any longer on this planet!

Let’s unite, and do the job together!

From this day on we must stand together, and fight without borders and limits and not crave for more if we already have enough. We must crave a better environment, crave for living bees, birds, species, and more breathable air, not more luxury goods and unsustainable voyages.

But this form of craving, is a battle with ourselves, our positions as politicians and leaders of state. It’s a battle that can not be won through a tug war between political right-wing and leftist, or at the cost of the very poor countries.

This is because a fight about causes, methods, and solutions between conservatives and socialists pulling on each side of a rope, will only give either side a temporary victory. Most likely the rope will break, – the rope, here signifying human life on earth.

G20 in Rome, October 31, by Daily Sabah

Contribution from each side seems therefore necessary. The new international green movements also seem to base their methods and activities on this philosophy,

– Conservative right-wing minded contribution:

We need the conservative mind’s contribution, to help take care of and conserve the different forms of human thinking and acting that preserve and even improve life on earth. This is the conservation of threatened species, non-polluted air, fresh water and oceans, and tropical forests. Not least, the conservation of millions of people living in countries with areas just above sea level. An Unbound neo-capitalistic global economy is a bad prescription for such conservation!

– Radical left-wing minded contribution:

We need the radical mind’s contribution to “eradicate” and remove the different forms of human thinking and acting that inhibit and prevent human and animal survival on earth! Modern capitalism’s inherent belief in the value of constant competition and economical growth must be considered obsolete.

– Neutral  scientific contribution:

In addition,-  psychologists, sociologists, and biologists must help us define what the average human being needs to feel safe, and reasonably happy, and well taken care of in life. That is: When is enough, and more and more,- only less?

“We are one, and connected to all other living creatures and matter.”

There is an invisible bond between the micro and the macrocosm, where you and I are in the middle somewhere. Everything that exists, depends on other existences, also you and me! With our brains and hearts, we can set this scientific knowledge into action.

Global and ruthless capitalism without ethics, moral and knowledge must be stopped!

This photo speaks for itself, by unknown source.

There is also a part of physics anticipated in the late 50’ies and early ’60s, a scientific shift towards the perception of reality as closely connected and interrelated. Never has this reality been more true and important to remember when we deal with global warming and pollution of the air we all breath in. Some of us have believed in this and partly practiced this since the early seventies. Now we must brace ourselves to our duty to save ourselves from the devastation.

Try to list three things you can do personally from now on, to help the planet:
